This site exists to promote good health and food economy. We feel that vacuum sealers do both.

As A Nation, We Need To Eat More Fruits And Vegetables

The healthiest part of anyones diet is fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables produce the necessary vitamins and fiber. Acccording to the surgeon general, we should eat five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. The message to eat fruits and vegetables is constantly being given to us for two reasons: 1- It is a key to being healthy and 2- As a nation, we are not eating enough fruits and vegetables.

Vacuum Sealers Preserve Fruits and Vegetables

The healthiest, and most tasty, fruits and vegetables are those that we grow in our garden. Unfortunately, as we all know, produce is feast or famine. You have no produce in the spring and way more than you can eat in the fall. The solution to this problem is a vacuum sealer. Take the excess produce, package it with a vacuum sealer, and freeze it. Not only is this method easier and quicker than canning, but also the food is closer to its natural form. Since raw food is proven to be healthier than cooked foods, it makes sense to freeze rather than can. The real advantage to canning is that the food lasts longer without being frozen. If there are cooked foods you wish to preserve then canning is the best choice. Realistically, freezing foods is the preferred method unless you need to preserve a lot (maybe you have 12 kids at home) or if you like to save cooked foods.

Dehydration Preserves Fruits and Vegetables

Products will last the longest if they are deydrated and vacuum sealed. Dehydration is another great way to preserve your fruits and vegetables. A cheap substitute for natural deydrated products are fruit roll ups and fruit bites. Most substitutes are made out of high fructose corn syrup and water. So basically, most have little or no real fruit in them. Home made deydrated fruit is much healthier and tastier.

Should I Deydrate or vacuum seal? This is a common question. Dehydration is espcially good for camping trips because it is light. Deyhration is also great as a snack. The deydration process makes the fruit or vegetables taste sweeter. It is mostly preference on how you like to eat your food. However, a combination of deydration and vacuum sealing will make your food last the longest.
