LDS Food Storage

The LDS people, as a religion, believe in saving a year of food storage for times of crisis or family hardship. 

When the church was organized, many of the members were very poor.  In addition, the areas where they lived were often unstable.  The idea of food storage came about and has stuck ever since. 

Each ward or congregation has a person appointed to the food storage responsibilities.  They assign people to pack food and encourage people to save food.
